Daily Devotion for May 21

DAILY DEVOTION #3

INTRO

This Sunday is Memorial Sunday.  All military personnel are invited to wear their uniform (or part).

SCRIPTURE:  MATTHEW 5:  43 - 48

43"You have heard that it was said, 'Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' 44But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. 46If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? 47And if you greet only your brothers, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? 48Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

QUESTION

Would you rather love or hate your enemy?

When was the last time you prayed for someone who persecuted you?

Is this too difficult?

Ever wish you had white-out?

What do you wish this passage said?

What does your answer to #5 say about you?

What would it take to live Matthew 5:  43 – 48?

THOUGHT TO PONDER

But the meek will inherit the land and enjoy great peace.  Psalm 37:11

PRAY FOR

a member of our church who is seeking employment in the administrative realm.
