Sierra Service Project -
Sunday, February 21st 3:00-4:00 pm in the YAC - Planning meeting for all participants.
This Summer our NUMC youth will join hundreds of church youth groups from all over the western states as they travel to one of our designated Native American Reservation worksites for an unforgettable week of serviing, learning, worship and fellowship! During each of the weeks* we will be repairing homes, and exploring the culture of the communities where we will be living. Work will range from roofing and building wheelchair ramps, to porches and painting.
This planning meeting on Feb 21 is important to ALL thoses who plan on participating. As we finalize our teams it is important that we take the time to plan opportunities for team building, and to make preparations for our journey to and from the reservations.
PLEASE make it a priority to attend (both Parents and Youth). Bring a calendar so we can set dates for our Big trip Fundraiser and for our Team Building Overnight. RSVP to Katherine.

Health Kits for Haiti -
Health kits provide basic necessities to people who have been forced to leave
their homes because of human conflict or natural disaster. Health kits are
also used as learning
tools in personal hygiene, literacy, nutrition and cooking classes. Please
bring supplies and/or completed Health Kits to church by January 31st. The
youth group will be packing them and mailing to the Haiti Relief efforts through
UMCOR.
Health Kit Items Value: $12 per kit
Place these items inside a sealed one-gallon plastic bag:
1 hand towel (15” x 25” up to 17” x 27”, no kitchen
towels),
1 washcloth, 1 comb (large and sturdy, not pocketsized),
1 nail file or fingernail clippers (no emery boards or toenail clippers), 1
bath-size bar of soap (3 oz. and up),
1 tooth-brush (single brushes only in original wrapper, no child-size brushes),
6 adhesive plastic strip sterile bandages and $1 to purchase toothpaste.
(NOTE: UMCOR Sager Brown is now purchasing toothpaste in bulk to be added to
health kits before shipping to ensure that the product does not expire before
they are
sent.)
Important Kit Assembly Information
All items included in kits must be NEW items. All emergency kits are carefully
planned to make them usable in the greatest number of situations. Since strict
rules often
govern product entry into international countries, it is important that kits
contain only the requested items, nothing more.
DO NOT include any personal notes, money or additional materials in the kits.
These things must be painstakingly removed and will delay the shipment.
